Bird Trip'n #1

I found some really good sites this weekend about birding in San Diego. People post about their outings, they state type of bird seen, place, date and time the sighting occurred. I noticed someone had posted that there was a wood stork at Lake Hodges on Friday morning. Since this sighting is very unusual for California I rushed out Saturday morning to have a look. Sure enough on the west side of I15 on the north side of the lake there stood this magnificent bird. He must have been blown off course by the rain storms or something. It was difficult to take good pictures of him because he was so far away, but it doesn’t matter…I saw him and was able to mark another bird down on my list.

Indian Rock

I was really disappointed to see that the rock was spray painted again. I noticed the initials VHB. I was thinking "Vista Hill Billie’s" or "Vagabond High Bastards". I had a nice conversation with the Professor of Rock Art. He was telling me what he thought about the site and where in the valley the tribe would have been camping. He also mentioned that some University was experimenting with lasers to clean up graffiti off of sites like Indian Rock. I think some how educating the community about the site wouldn't hurt.
